John Daly Signed Butterfield Bermuda Championship Caddy Bib
"It was just one birdie on a day of over 650 of them, but it generated the loudest roar at Thursday’s opening round of the Butterfield Bermuda Championship," wrote PGA Tour's Jim McCabe on their website. Owner of the aforementioned birdie that the gallery took a liking to was the player that they did nearly 35 years ago at Crooked Stick - John Daly. It was a PGA Tour start and this shot, a Daly putt from the fringe from a "horrible lie" and a circle on the card for the 383-yard par-4 hole 9. It was the final hole of the opening round for Daly and lone highlight prior to missing the weekend. At the 2022 Butterfield Bermuda Championship at Port Royal Golf Course in Southampton Parish, Bermuda John Daly carded a 71-76. Here is the official sea-foam blue bib from that week worn by Daly's caddie and signature by Daly on the black 'DALY' nameplate on the verso. “It’s awesome. People have always been so good to me. I love them for it,” said Daly after the event, there on a sponsor’s exemption. Why, at 56 and with an array of aches and pains, was he there? “I just wanted to play. I wanted to come play in warm weather, to see if it helps.” The final photo after the bib in this lot photo matches this bib, his caddie cleaning equipment with a towel while Daly was in the golf cart driver's seat. James Spence Authentication (JSA) has reviewed this signature and their auction letter of authenticity comes with this lot.
