John Mahaffey Signed 1978 PGA Championship at Oakmont CC Official Program

Here we have a program from the 1978 PGA Championship at Oakmont signed by the champion John Mahaffey. It comes in fair condition, showing paper loss all the way through on the back cover and foxing and scuffs throughout. After holding the 54 hole lead, Tom Watson shot a 73 on Sunday to open the door for the other competitors. Jerry Pate had his chance on the final day, lipping out a 4 ft putt for par on the 72nd hole. The 60th PGA Championship at Oakmont Country Club saw John Mahaffey win his only major championship in a sudden-death playoff over Pate and Watson.
