1899 Golf Themed Mappin & Webb Silver Plated Ink Stand w/Two Cut Glass Bottles
An advertisement for this inkstand appeared in the September 8, 1899 British Golf Illustrated magazine. It read as follows: “Princes Plate “Golf” Inkstand with Cut Glass Bottles 11 inches long, £3 10s” . This inkstand was crafted by Mappin and Webb Ltd, -“Silversmiths to her Majesty” and bears their mark on the underside and Registration No. 173907. The center of the inkstand features three crossed golf clubs intertwined through a wreath mounted over a line cut gutty ball. Finely detailed with leather wrapped grips and with knurling visible on the hosels. There are two cut glass bottles on either side with hinged caps topped with a line cut gutty. The patterns on the cut glass bottles mimic the British Union Jack Flag. Beaded scroll-work surrounds the base which rests on four matching line cut golf balls. Overall a truly magnificent example of an opulent Victorian golf themed item.

During extended bidding, each lot will have its own 30-minute countdown clock. The clock will extend 30-minutes from the time of the most recently placed bid for that lot. If no bids are placed on that lot for a 30-minute period, the lot will close. Place your bids now!
1. Place your initial bids BEFORE 10pm ET in order to bid on the item in extended bidding
2. During extended bidding, you may bid only on items you PREVIOUSLY placed a bid on.
3. Lots with only ONE or NO BIDS will close at 10pm ET
Extended bidding starts at 10pm ET, and each lot will begin closing with its own 30-minute countdown timer. Lots without a bid placed during extended bidding will close at 10:30pm ET. We recommend you place your maximum bid(s) prior to that time. Thank you
