Fifteen (15) Assorted Masters Commemorative Glasses - 1996-2017
Here we offer 15 Commemorative Masters Glasses ranging from 1996-2017. The Masters Tournament (usually referred to as simply The Masters, or the U.S. Masters outside North America) is one of the four major championships in professional golf. Scheduled for the first full week of April, the Masters is the first major of the year, and unlike the others, it is always held at the same location, Augusta National Golf Club, a private course in the southeastern United States, in the city of Augusta, Georgia. The Masters was started by amateur champion Bobby Jones and investment banker Clifford Roberts. After his grand slam in 1930, Jones acquired the former plant nursery and co-designed Augusta National with course architect Alister MacKenzie. First played 87 years ago in 1934, the tournament is an official money event on the PGA Tour, the European Tour, and the Japan Golf Tour. The field of players is smaller than those of the other major championships because it is an invitational event, held by the Augusta National Golf Club.
The Phil Schaefer Collection: The Golf Auction is proud to present the Phil Schaefer Collection. Phil Schaefer was recognized by Augusta National in 2010 for having covered the Masters Tournament for 45 years with distinction. Phil grew up in Augusta and attended college at Ohio State where he became friends with Jack Nicklaus, John Havlicek, Bobby Knight and others. It was at OSU when Phil began his broadcasting career. He covered the Buckeyes in the early 60’s while at school and eventually branched into golf and NASCAR. He later became the color man on the Georgia Football Network and the voice of the Peach Bowl. He did radio play by play for the Atlanta Hawks when Pete Maravich started his professional career. Phil recently authored the book “Sins of a Southern Broadcaster” detailing his career so that his grand children would know their grandfather a little better one day. AUCTION CLOSING RULES:
Place your bids NOW, don’t wait until the last minute. The auction will close beginning at 10:00pm ET Sunday, June 18th. You must agree to the terms BEFORE confirming your initial bid. During extended bidding, each lot will have its own 30-minute countdown clock. The clock will extend 30-minutes from the time of the most recently placed bid for that lot. If no bids are placed on that lot for a 30-minute period, the lot will close. Place your bids now!
1. Place your initial bids BEFORE 10pm ET in order to bid on the item in extended bidding
2. During extended bidding, you may bid only on items you PREVIOUSLY placed a bid on.
3. Lots with only ONE or NO BIDS will close at 10pm ET
Extended bidding starts at 10pm ET, and each lot will begin closing with its own 30-minute countdown timer. Lots without a bid placed during extended bidding will close at 10:30pm ET. We recommend you place your maximum bid(s) prior to that time. Thank you
