Chick Evans Signed March 9, 1922 Letter
The 31 year old amateur golfing star who at the time had already won the U.S. Open (1916) and two U.S. Amateur titles (1916, 1920) sends on his personal Chicago letterhead. The signed letter which measures 7" x 10 1/4" and has the following penning:
"My Dear Mr. Oliver,
I am enclosing a cutting
that I hope will please you. Probably you
have already seen it but I do not think
that the great value of the work you and
your family have done for the world can
be overestimated. There must be a comfort
of mind to the man who manufactures
a plow that is denied to the man who
manufactures swords and shells.
Thanking you over and over again
for your many kindness to me.
Very gratefully yours
"Chick"
