1966 PGA Championship at Firestone CC Program - Al Geiberger Winner
The 1966 PGA Championship was held at Firestone Country Club because the original site at Columbine C.C. sustained damage from a flash flood. It was the site of Al Geiberger's only major championship. Munching peanut butter sandwiches for stamina, the California native Geiberger shared the first-round lead with Sam Snead. The lead bounced back and fourth, but when Snead fired closing rounds of 75 and 73, Geiberger won by four strokes over Dudley Wysong.
