Ryder Cup Heritage and Trust Deed Pamphlets - Facsimile
The 1927 competition was organized on a formal basis, but changes were to be made. A Ryder Cup "Deed of Trust" was drawn up formalizing the rules of the contest, while each of the PGA organizations had a selection process. Presented in this lot is a facsimile "Deed of Trust" which has been dated from December 9 1929 from Samuel Ryder to John Taylor, James Braid, and Joshua Taylor. For the 1929 UK contest at Moortown GC, Leeds, the American PGA again restricted their team to those born in the USA but in late 1929 the Deed of Trust was revised requiring all players to be born in and resident in their respective countries, as well as being members of their respective Professional Golfers' Association. The Ryder Cup Heritage is a seldom seen booklet on the origins of the Ryder Cup and its founder, Samuel Ryder, written by his nephew. It was published by PGA Golf circa 1984. The booklet is printed on high quality art paper, the deed is folded foolscap.
