Jack Nicklaus Signed 1978 Inverrary Classic Program


Nicklaus birdied the final five holes in one of the greatest finishes in any tournament. The Golden Bear in reference to the Inverrary Classic finish of 1978:

``I got myself on a roll,'' Nicklaus said. ``It's happened to me a number of times in my career where I get on a roll, and all of a sudden . . . It was like that at the 1986 Masters. You get on a roll and you just keep going. Sometimes you don't realize you're on a roll until it's over.''

He ran a 3 iron from the fringe 80ft to make birdie on 14, birdied a 12 footer on 15, and chipped in from 20ft on 16 to make good on 3 birdies in a row. He finished off his last holes by sinking a 20 footer for birdie on 17 and followed that up with a 9 iron approach on 18 to within 4ft, sinking that for the birdie and win. Jack has signed his autograph nicely on the cover in black sharpie.
