1890's Huntley & Palmers Oval Biscuit Tin - First Known Golf Advertising on Tin
Huntley & Palmers started out as a small bakery in Reading in 1822. The owner saw an opportunity, stationed across from a busy stage coach stop, to not only sell his biscuits but also decorative tins that kept the biscuits from breaking. Soon Huntley & Palmers earned Royal Warrants in Belgium and became the British Royal Family's official biscuit makers. Offered here is an oval tin from Huntley & Palmers depicting a golfer post swing in front of an audience, the first known golf advertisement on tin. This is a must have piece for your antique collection and will display very well.
Please note: This auction will end at 7:00pm EST on Sunday, April 9th with EXTENDED BIDDING to follow. All items in the auction will remain open until no items have received a bid within a 15 minute time period. All lots are free to be bid on until extended bidding has ended
