Bob Jones Signed Letter and Signed Photo - Seldom Seen Combo - Framed
An unprecedented combination of Bobby Jones memorabilia is offered in this excellent display. Not only is there a Bob Jones signed two page letter to Mr. Charles Price at Golf magazine from 1960, but also an actual Robert T. Jones, Jr. signed photo from the 1957 year!
After some content regarding what he calls "the best pictures made of me in many years", Jones responds to Mr. Price's previous letter, and writes "you say that you were astounded to find that the technique of hitting a golf ball has undergone very little change since my day gives me at least some moderate and slightly malicious amusement". Bobby then goes on to say that "Although I should care to say it publicly, I have been consistently astounded myself to find so great similarity in what I wrote 25-30 years ago and the utterances of our modern players via their ghost writers of recent times."
A response letter to a Mrs. Peggy Willis is from Jones' secretary Jean Marshall from 1957. In the letter she states her apologies for missing previously written inquiries, and that the signed photo sent is "Mr. Jones's favorite golfing picture of himself". Signed Robert T. Jones, Jr. and personalized "For Peggy Willis, with all great wishes", a signed photo from Bobby Jones has proven time and again to be one of the most sought after pieces of golf history.
A professional framing measuring 38" x 36" presents these letters, signatures, photos, pictures, and plates.
