History of Golf with Notorious Dates Sheffield English Pewter Tankard
An Sheffield English pewter tankard is offered here. It notates the "History of Golf" and is inscribed as follows:
"1100 - Golf began in Scotland, developed from a Roman game called paganica
1884 - Oakhurst Country Club, West Virginia established as first United States club
1894 - First American national tournament (stroke play) held in Newport, Rhode Island
1894 - Unites States Golf Association founded
1940 - PGA Hall of Fame established in Pinehurst, North Carolina."
There is a mall dent around top edge, please see photographs. The tankard stands 5" tall with a bottom diameter of 4".
