Tom Morris Circa 1900 Philp Style Long Nose Putter - Tom Morris Dup Special Shaft Stamp
A Tom Morris Philp style long nose putter, a club from around the year 1900, is available to bidders in this lot. The head of the club is stamped 'T.MORRIS,' and the club has maintained its good-excellent condition. The grip is worn but firm and the hosel is in perfect condition, and despite some minor nicks, the head of the driver presents very well. The shaft is stamped "Tom Morris Duplicate Special." A great club to add to your collection. Hugh Philp was appointed clubmaker to the Society of St. Andrews in 1819, what would later become the Royal & Ancient. His clubs were in such high demand that it is said he was the first clubmaker to have clubs fraudulently forged with his name while he was still alive. After he passed, his nephew Robert Forgan carried on the family business.
