Juan Montell Original Photo of Maureen Orcutt in Augusta Match
An original Juan Montell photograph of Maureen Orcutt at Augusta in 1932 is offered here. Maureen Orcutt was a renowned amateur golfer in the 1920's through her "senior" years in the 1960's. She was a member of four Curtis Cup teams, winning three times and tying once, though still retaining the Cup. Juan Montell immigrated from Sicily in the late 1800's and found a passion for photography and entrepreneurship that led to him photographing the land in Augusta as it transformed into the Augusta National Golf Club. His nephew Frank Christian Sr. took over the business in 1927 and later became the official photographer for the ANGC, working closely with Bobby Jones and Clifford Roberts. This Montell original photo comes in excellent condition, showing some handwriting from a previous owner at the bottom.
