Seve Ballesteros Personal 1985 Tournament-Used Slazenger Sounder Iron Set w/Wedges

A signed letter of provenance from our consignor will accompany this lot, it reads as follows: This letter shall serve as provenance for the Seve Ballesteros personal tournament used Slazengers Sounders Supremo irons and wedges shown below, they were part of my personal collection passed down from my father. Seve was a friend of my family in Pedreña, Santander. Seve use the clubs in 1985, for example during the Suntory World Match play as you can see in photos. At that year, Seve won these tournaments: USF&G Classic (USA), Irish Open, French Open, Open Sanyo, Open de España, Ryder Cup, World Match Play Championship, Campeonato de España para Profesionales. I am quite sure Seve won all of them with these clubs, because Seve in the 1980’s didn’t change his clubs within the same year, instead he adjusted and worked on them. My father’s name Is Jaime Vega de Seoane (same as me). My father was very good amateur player here in Spain. He won lot of tournaments, but as an amateur. The reason for Seve gave them to my father was due to their friendship built over many years. My father and my uncle had the privilege to play with him plenty of times in Pedreña. My father also used to work in Spanish Bank Bankinter, where he would advise Seve with financial issues. It was a great honor to meet Seve when I was younger. To see him playing and training was something I enjoyed, and he was always very kind to me.
Offered here is a full set of tournament used irons in addition to two wedges from the late great Seve Ballesteros. Seve memorabilia such as irons, bags, and other ephemera is quite scarce in the industry. The full set of irons with wedges were given by Seve to his friend, the Father of our Consignor. Arriving directly from Spain, the clubs are Supremo Sounder forged irons which Seve endorsed and played during the 1980's. There have been quite a number of custom alterations performed by Seve on these very clubs, and please request any additional photos prior to January 25th. These 1980's Seve used clubs show the extensive sweet spot wear that you would find present only from an expert player. The two wedges are Wilson & Mizuno Wedges. We would like to thank our Consignor for entrusting The Golf Auction with these cherished clubs.

This auction will end at 9:00pm EST Sunday, January 27th, with EXTENDED BIDDING to follow. All items that have received multiple bids in the auction will remain open until no items have received a bid within a 15 minute time period (at 10pm EST, the countdown clock will be adjusted to a 5 minute interval)
1. You must place your initial bids BEFORE extended bidding begins in order to bid on the item in extended bidding
2. During extended bidding, you are allowed to bid only on items you PREVIOUSLY placed a bid on.
3. All lots that are active in extended bidding will close at the same time, and those with only ONE or NO BIDS will close at 9pm EST
