2013 Spring Golf Memorabilia Auction
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 4/12/2013
Karsten Solheim founded Karsten Manufacturing, a leading golf club maker better known by its brand name of PING, and the Solheim Cup, the premier international team competition in women's golf similar to the Ryder Cup in the mens game. Solheim was an engineer by trade who with this knowledge became the first to stress scientific principles in golf club design. His perimeter weighting theory revoluntionized the design of first putters in the 1960's which was later followed by irons and drivers. Solheim passed in 2000 and was elected to the World Golf Hall of Fame. When you combine his posthumous election to the Hall of Fame with the limited time he was in the public spotlight and asked for autographs you have a difficult HoFer to obtain on golf ball. The ball offered here is signed with his traditional first name only autograph clearly in blue sharpie. This item comes with a letter from JSA as a certificate of authenticity.
Session 1: Lots 1-500 will end on 4/11/13 and Session 2 Lots 500+ will end on 4/14/13 with extended bidding to start at 9:00 PM EST for both sessions. In order to bid in extended bidding you must place a bid on the lot before 9pm on auction closing day.
