Vintage Framingham Country Club 'Goat' Medallion by John Frick with Engraved Name F. Schoble, Jr. (?) on Reverse
From the wear, this also looks like it was carried in a pocket for many years, perhaps used as a ball marker long after its inaugural use in a “Goat Competition” in the teens or 20s. This fad originated at the Nassau Country Club of Long Island. Member William D. Moffat invented the competition to encourage members to intermingle, and wrote The Goat Golf Book in 1911 under the pseudonym of C.A.P. Ricorus. It explains the game and the need for the metal goat token. Nassau has a collection of over 50 different goat tokens until the 1990's. 1 ¼” diam.

NEW AUCTION CLOSING RULES:
Place your bids now as this auction will close LOT BY LOT beginning at 9:00pm ET Sunday, May 23rd. When placing INITIAL bid, you must agree to the terms BEFORE confirming your bid. All items that have received multiple bids in the auction will be eligible for the extended bidding period. The countdown clock will be set for a 30-minute interval. Each lot will have it’s own 30-minute countdown. The clock will extend 30-minutes from the time of the most recently placed bid for that lot. If no bids are placed on that lot during a 30-minute period, the lot will close. Place your bids now!
1. You must place your initial bids BEFORE extended bidding begins to bid on the item in extended bidding
2. During extended bidding, you are allowed to bid only on items you PREVIOUSLY placed a bid on.
3. All lots with only ONE or NO BIDS will close at 9pm ET
4. All lots will begin closing on a LOT BY LOT basis at 9pm ET
**Once extended bidding starts at 9pm ET, each lot will then begin closing with its own 30-minute countdown timer. We recommend you place your maximum bid(s) prior to that time. Thank you**
