The 17th hole at The Country Club in Brookline, MA is one of the most significant holes in U.S. golf history. It was there in 1913 that Francis Ouimet sank two 20-foot birdie putts, one in regulation and one in a playoff, to win the U.S. Open. Ouimet's win put the U.S. on the golf map. The 17th green at Brookline was once again the site of U.S. celebration and pride when Justin Leonard ran in a 45-foot birdie putt to rally the USA squad to victory in the 1999 Ryder Cup matches with Europe. The commercially offered flags for the 1999 Ryder Cup featured an 18th hole designation. This flag with 17th hole designation comes from 1999 Brookline course superintendent Bill Spence who knew our consignor and her work in the golf industry. He gifted this flag too its two (unknown)signors for presentation, in thanks, to our consignor Bettina Schrickel of Lioness Golf Inc. Ms. Schrickel had provided a scholarship for each of the two signers of this flag in golf course management, and this was there way of thanking her for their scholarships.

In order to bid in extended bidding you must place a bid on the lot before 9pm on auction closing day.
