1947 Masters Award Ceremony Photo Signed by Runnerups Byron Nelson F.Stranahan
This image from the Frank Stranahan collection depicts the crowning moment from one of Stranahan's finest career moments. The awards ceremony following the 1947 Masters triumph of Jimmy Demaret. Demaret is joined at the triumphant event by Bobby Jones and the two players(Stranahan and Byron Nelson) who shared runner-up honors that year only two strokes behind the champion. It carried extreme significance for Stranahan as he had developed his game at Inverness in Toledo while Nelson was the club pro at the course. With Stranahan have having an off and on relationship with Nelson as his coach. Byron Nelson has neatly penned in black sharpie his autograph on this image. Also adding his signature in pen is Frank Stranahan, who has noted the day he signed Jan. 28/03.
A portion of the Frank Stranahan collection proceeds will be donated to The First Tee of Lake Erie.
James Spence Authentication(JSA) has reviewed this signature, and their letter of authenticity comes with this lot.
