Frank Stranahan's 1946 Western Amateur Co-Medalitst Sterling Pitcher
The qualifying round of the 44th Western Amateur was an assault on the competitive course record of the 6,747-yard hilly Northland Country Club course in Duluth, Minnesota. Frank Stranahan was one of three players who carded 68 to establish the new mark, and claim co-medalist honors. Stranahan would go on to defeat Marvin "Bud" Ward in a thrilling 38 hole finals match to clain his first Western Amateur crown. For his co-medalist performance in qualifying Stranahan received the 5" diameter, 9" tall with 9" width from spout to handle pitcher offered in this lot.
