1948 Greater Greensboro Open Amateur Runner-Up Trophy
In one of the few amateur events that got away from Frank Stranahan, former U.S. Amateur king and Walker Cupper, Dick Chapman, made up three strokes on Sunday to defeat Stranahan by a stroke 291-292 for the Am title. Stranahan through the first three rounds had been the simon pure division leader at Sedgefield Country Club during the PGA's Greater Greensboro Open. For his runner-up finish Stranahan received a 15" tall trophy with dimensions 6 1/2" diameter and 10 3/4" width from handle to handle. It carries the engravings:

A portion of the Frank Stranahan collection proceeds will be donated to The First Tee of Lake Erie.
