Mid 1800's Andrew Gray 'A. Gray' Carnoustie Cleek - Scarce
Upon inspection a strong, legible 'A Gray' head stamp in script across the head will become immediately apparent. This was Andrew Gray's stamp, an makers mark that is seldom seen on a cleek such as the one you will find in this lot, Thick, early 3/4 inch hosel. The shape indicates 1860's or 1970's style. Nice Example. Re-pinned with brass pin. As notated on the accompanying nametag Andrew Gray produced clubs in Carnoustie from 1860 to 1868. It is purported that only a handful of Gray clubs exist, with a number of 3 written on the nameplate. The 'A Gray' script stamp was added to select early irons. 40"
