Cary Middlecoff Signed Wilson 2 Logo Golf Ball - Fading Signature JSA #X01109
The 1955 Masters Tournament Champion Dr. Cary Middlecoff left signature on this Wilson 2 logo golf ball, a challenging medium to have signed by the late champion and dentist. Curators of Masters Champions on single-signed ball runs recognize just how difficult this link in the chain is. Because of this his light, faded penmanship from the Doctor will still help fill the void. The accompanying full letter of authenticity from JSA has its earlier state of ink. Cary Middlecoff blitzed the field to win the 1955 Masters by seven strokes over Ben Hogan. This was no surprise victory for Cary Middlecoff remains one of the most underrated golfers in the history of the game, despite his World Golf Hall of Fame status. A reason for this oversight may be the short window he was at the top of his game, and also that he was overshadowed by flashier stories in the 1950's mainly Ben Hogan and Sam Snead. In this time period, along with his Masters title Middlecoff also captured the 1949 and 1956 U.S. Open Championships. His 28 PGA Tour titles set the standard for for most victories by any player in the 1950's. James Spence Authentication (JSA) has reviewed this signature and their FULL letter of authenticity #X01109 comes with this lot.
