Old Tom Morris Signed Feb. 3, 1904 St. Andrews Stationary "Playing a good bit of golf lately"

**Updated Description**Morris at the penning of this letter was 82 years old and as described that year in the Dundee Evening Telegraph Newspaper "is still active and vigorous, notwithstanding years, presided over the tee with his accustomed geniality". As he notes in the missive he had "just finished a round to-day with Mr. Hull". The referenced Mr. Hull is frequent playing partner over the later part of Old Tom's life, R.A. Hull an accomplished player who served as Captain of the St. Andrews team. Hull's game was so skilled that at the turn of 1891 while playing the Old Course he had holed the short hole outward in one stroke with a long spoon. It is assumed this was also to much joy for his caddie as on such rare occasion the tradition of the day was that the caddie was to be presented with a bottle of whiskey (Stewart's Golfing Blend). Heightening this piece's importance is the hand that the writing was done has been determined to be Old Tom Moris' son Mr. James Ogilvy Fairlie Morris, two years prior to James' passing. James Morris was born in Prestwick, Scotland in 1856 and finished 3rd in the 1878 Open Championship at age 22, with additional top-10 finishes as well. The signature is authentic and writing is in James Morris' hand with the full letter of authentication #BB53952 from James Spence Authentication notating both. Also a second letter of authenticity from the PGA, who source this item, with their Historian Emeritus Bob Denney providing the penning.
