Original Painting of St Andrews Golf Club Founder John Reid by Artist Ray Caram
Deserving of the pioneering moniker 'Father of Golf in the United States,' John Reid founded and served as the first president of the St Andrews Golf Club in Yonkers, New York. This sizeable original painting pays tribute to Reid and his leadership jump-starting golf in the United States of America at its first golf club. Reid in fact a Scotsman that brought his love of the game across the pond with him when in 1888 pairing United States with the game they would come to love. Pictured below Reid's centered portrait is the scene from February 22, 1888 in the Hudson Valley of New York. The three hole course on a Yonkers, NY pasture would have to do for the local beginners and Reid. This was the informal establishment of the group known as the 'Apple Tree Gang', with the consistent meeting place - you guessed it - an apple tree. 'John Reid - St Andrews Golf Club - 1888' is engraved on the gold-tone nameplate below this professionally framed oversize painting.
New York native Ray Caram was a successful painter of commissioned projects in the Baseball, Tennis, Golf, and Hockey Hall of Fames. Additionally his work has been exhibited at the Olympic National Gallery and the prestigious International Art Museum of Sports. Commercial projects include those for Ralph Lauren depicting polo the sport sport, Avon for their 'Moments of Victory' porcelain plate line, and US Postal Service for their 1984 Olympics stamps. Much of his work was done in the 1980's and Caram passed away in 2015.

Each lot will have its own 30 minute countdown clock during extended bidding. The clock will extend 30-minutes from the time of the most recently placed bid for that lot. If no bids are placed on that lot during a 30-minute period, the lot will close. Place your bids now!

2. During extended bidding, you may bid only on items you PREVIOUSLY placed a bid on.
3. Lots with only ONE or NO BIDS will close at 10pm ET
Extended bidding starts at 10pm ET, and each lot will begin closing with its own 30-minute countdown timer. Lots without a bid during extended bidding will close at 10:30pm ET. We recommend you place your maximum bid(s) prior to that time. Thank you
