Paul Lawrie Signed 1999 Carnoustie OPEN Logo Golf Ball
A Paul Lawrie signed 1999 Open Championship at Carnoustie logo golf ball is offered here for bidders. Lawrie won his lone Major in a playoff over Jean van de Velde and Justin Leonard at the 1999 Open. It was triumph for Lawrie and heartbreak for van de Velde, as he held a three-stroke lead heading into the final hole, a lead so seemingly insurmountable that his name had already been engraved into the Claret Jug. Following the collapse and Lawrie completing the largest comeback in Major championship history, down ten strokes at the start of the final round, the engraver was forced to scratch through van de Velde's name to engrave Paul Lawrie into it.
James Spence Authentication (JSA) has reviewed the signature and their auction letter of authenticity will come with this lot.
