Robert "Bobby" T. Jones Jr. Signed Augusta National GC 1933 Guest Card-ONLY KNOWN, SIGNIFICANT OPPORTUNITY!
"THIS WAS SOMETHING GREAT THAT OCCURRED TODAY. BOTH FOR AUGUSTA AND FOR THE GOLFING WORLD" The Opening Day of the Augusta National that occurred January 13, 1933. Shortly after that Bob Jones began soliciting players, members and guests to play his new course. We offer here what is the only known example of a guest card to A.N.G.C. which has been verso dated, and appears in four stipulations of use on the back of the card for play between November 20, 1933 & May 20, 1934. It was issued to a Woodward Allen, which also appears in Jones' hand, and accompanied by an original time period foursome photo. Card measures 2 1/2" x 3 1/2" and bears same printing characteristics, fonts and black ANGC logo which appears on stationary from the club in this earliest of time periods. Prized full name signature of Jones has been applied to this guest card. James Spence Authentication (JSA) has reviewed the penmanship of Jones and their full letter of authenticity comes with this lot. One of the most significant items of Augusta National memorabilia to come along in a very long time. Thought to be one of a kind early National treasure. Other examples of ANGC guest card, you may recall,have each displayed a facsimile signature of Bobby Jones.
AUCTION CLOSING RULES:
This auction will end at 9:00pm EST Sunday, March 3rd, with EXTENDED BIDDING to follow. All items that have received multiple bids in the auction will remain open until no items have received a bid within a 15 minute time period (at 10pm EST, the countdown clock will be adjusted to a 5 minute interval)
1. You must place your initial bids BEFORE extended bidding begins in order to bid on the item in extended bidding
2. During extended bidding, you are allowed to bid only on items you PREVIOUSLY placed a bid on.
3. All lots that are active in extended bidding will close at the same time, and those with only ONE or NO BIDS will close at 9pm EST
