"Slammin Sam" Sam Snead won 7 Major Tournaments, including 3 Masters in 1949, 1952, and 1954; the British Open in 1946; and PGA Championships in 1942, 1949, and 1951. He had 82 tour victories, with an estimated 160 professional victories in all.
Sourced from The Doug Sanders Museum Collection is this Sam Snead Signed Masters Pewter Putting Cup with Years Won Notation JSA ALOA, originally obtained through Sanders' connections and celebrity status as a staple in golf for over two decades. The 20-time PGA Tour winner Doug Sanders was picked as a member of the 1967 Ryder Cup Team and obtained the nickname "The Peacock of the Fairways" with his colorful wardrobe. With friends in high places, a typical pro-am tournament field Sanders took part in might have consisted of names such as George H.W. Bush, Neil Armstrong and Willie Nelson. A large number of items that Doug collected over his playing career and thereafter are on display at The Doug Sanders Museum. Sharing in the joy of collecting, the generated funds from this sale will help benefit the Doug Sanders Museum. A signed letter of provenance from the museum will accompany this item. 6 1/2" x 6 1/4"
