Seldom Seen 1894 "The Ocobo" 27 1/2 Gutta Percha with 99.9% Paint & Wrapper

One of the finest 'Ocobo' balls you will come upon, this superb example right out of a box of balls in "original purchased" condition boasts 99.9% white paint coverage and is free from strike marks. KW McGimpsey's book 'The Story of the Golf Ball' tells the 'Ocobo' ball story the best.

"In 1984, J.B. Halley launched The Ocobo gutty ball, It featured a new pattern of longitudinal deep grooves that criss crossed at the right angles with a series of sharp lateral grooves; this new pattern was called OCOBO. A circular collar at each pole featured the ball's name and weight. Ocobo was sometimes pronounced with the vowels short, and sometimes with the second one long. The name Ocobo, was supposedly an occult reference to Colonel Bogey! Many makers used the Ocobo patter, an example being William Millar who made the Mirco Special in 1901."

Upgrade your current example, if you have been lucky enough to track one of these gems down, of this cornerstone pre-20th century ball with this lot that bears the legendary name and "1894" date on both poles. Its original wrapper comes around the ball, as it did when it was pulled from the box.
