2019 June US Open Week Memorabilia Auction - Father's Day
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/16/2019
Signed 'A History of Golf Britain' 1st Ed. - Sarazen, Locke, Cotton, Darwin, Padgham etc.
This book is signed by more than 40 golf champions and accomplished players. The sport's well-respected writer Bernard Darwin gives a comprehensive look at the game of golf from inception to the present day, in 1952. Here is an outstanding first edition with its colorful dust-jacket still intact and full page illustrations within. There are seven Open Championship champions and 40-plus others inside the cover and on the plain front end-paper. The names are very impressive and include Gene Sarazen, Henry Cotton, Alf Padgham, Dick Burton, Fred Daly, Bobby Locke, Max Faulkner and the author Bernard Darwin. There are inscriptions among many of the autographs that are Open Championship (3) and Ryder Cup related. Nearly all of the signatures are in blue ballpoint pen and are dark with ideal placement. The 312 page volume reflects gentle evidence of handling consistent with light reading and as an attention-getting vehicle for autographs, grading very good condition. This book would make a nice compliment to a personal golf library.
