Ted Ray Signed Album Page with 'Open Champion 1912' Notation

Edward "Ted" Ray was a great British golfer, with a career that spanned decades. Ray won 2 Major tournaments, the 1912 Open Championship and the 1920 US Open. Ray was born in Jersey, the same island country that brought us Harry Vardon. It was in fact Vardon that Ray defeated by four strokes in 1912 to claim the Claret Jug.

The following year, Ray joined Vardon on an exhibition tour in the United states that culminated at the 1913 US Open. The 20 year old Francis Ouimet stunned the Brits, who were heavily favored, Beating Ray and Vardon by 5 strokes in a playoff. Ray and Vardon's chance for redemption came at the 1920 US Open, where Ray was victorious by one stroke over Vardon, Jock Hutchison, and two others.

Offered here in this lot is an album page signed by Ray in stunning fountain pen script with an "Open Champion 1912" notation. Ray's signature is a must have for every collection.
James Spence Authentication (JSA) has reviewed the signature and their auction letter of authenticity will come with this lot.

Please note: This auction will end at 7:00pm EST on Sunday, April 9th with EXTENDED BIDDING to follow. All items in the auction will remain open until no items have received a bid within a 15 minute time period. All lots are free to be bid on until extended bidding has ended
