Walter J Travis 1904 Champion of the British Isles St Andrews Wall Hanging Golf Display
The 1904 Open Championship was the 44th Open Championship. The tournament was held at Royal St George's Golf Club in Sandwich, England. The tournament ended with Jack White edging out James Braid and J.H. Taylor by a stroke. This was White's only major title. The wall hanging featured was painted by Walter Travis. Travis was an all around golf enthusiast. Although he was born in Australia, he was an American amateur golfer, a noted golf journalist and publisher, an innovator in all aspects of golf, a teacher, and golf course architect. The wall hanging measures 19" x 25".
