Arnold Palmer Signed 1946 The Latrobean - Junior Year High School Yearbook
While playing for the Latrobe High School golf team, Palmer lost only one match in four years and twice won the Pennsylvania State High School Championship. While he excelled at golf, Palmer was indifferent in school. "Admittedly, I wasn't the best student in high school," he said. "I made decent marks in math because it had a useful purpose on the golf course (keeping score and tallying up bets), and pretty ordinary one in English and history." From his junior year in 1946 comes his high school yearbook, The Latrobean, complete with class photo and golf team photo (see accompanying photos). Unlike most examples however, this one has been penned by Arnold Palmer's timeless blue sharpie signature to the left of his class photo. Palmer has a serious look and is sitting in the first row of students. Book remains with all pages intact in VG condition (wear to cover and spine). James Spence Authentication (JSA) has reviewed this signature and their auction letter of authenticity comes with this lot.
