Circa 1890's Spalding Concave Face Rut Niblick with S.M. Co. Shaft Stamp
A niblick is a heavily lofted club similar to a nine iron. They were most commonly used to hit a ball out of bunkers. The iron headed niblick started becoming more common than the wood-headed version in the after the mid 1800's. Although they were made of a different material, the club faces were still steeply lofted and still had some spooning in the clubface. This club measures 38" to the heel.
