Early 1930's Augusta National Golf Club Type 1 Original Photo of Oak Tree by Clubhouse at 9th Hole
This never before seen picture features an early shot of Augusta National Golf Club's clubhouse to the left of an Oak tree on the 9th hole. Hole numbers were of course changed following the inaugural Masters Tournament of 1934, with the front nine becoming the back nine and vice versa. Both the famed clubhouse and present day final hole 18th: Holly are seen in great antiquity in this original picture. This image has been stored in the files of the original Augusta National Golf Club's engineer Wendell P. Miller's family for over 85 years. It cries out for ownership by the finest photo libraries known with a dedication to Bobby Jones, Augusta National Golf Club or golf history as an emphasis. The reverse is stamped Hamilton M. Wright Newspaper Feature New York City. Crystal clear image free from chipping, with slight surface wear. Letter of provenance from the family of Wendell P. Miller comes with this lot.
