1960 Phoenix Open Winer's Medal with Scores - Jack Fleck
Stirring old golf memories, the 39-year-old Jack Fleck found his game again at the beginning of the 1960 PGA season highlighted by his return to the winners circle at the '60 Phoenix Open Invitational. The victory did not come easy hwoever requiring, an 18-hole playoff win again just as his last win in the 1955 U.S. Open against Ben Hogan had been. The turning point of the February 15, 1960 playoff at the 6,585-yard Phoenix Country Club with Bill Collins (who had tied with 273 through 72 holes)came when Fleck made birdie from 6 feet on No.15 and ran in another birdie from 40 feet on No. 16 to swell his lead to three shots which would be the final margin of victory, Fleck 68 and Collins 71. For his second PGA triumph in what was the 25th anniversary of the Phoenix Open, Fleck received the 1 1/2" champions medal offered here with details as listed.
