John Mahaffey Signed 1978 PGA Championship at Oakmont CC Program
After holding the 54 hole lead, Tom Watson shot a 73 on Sunday to open the door for the other competitors. Jerry Pate had his chance on the final day, lipping out a 4 ft putt for par on the 72nd hole. The 60th PGA Championship at Oakmont Country Club saw John Mahaffey win his only Major championship in a sudden death playoff over Pate and Watson. Offered here is a program from the tournament signed by Mahaffey.
James Spence Authentication (JSA) has reviewed the signature and their auction letter of authenticity will come with this lot.
Please note: Our bidders have spoken, and we have listened to their wishes. With that in mind, this auction will end at 5:00pm EST on Sunday, January 28th, with EXTENDED BIDDING to follow. All items in the auction will remain open until no items have received a bid within a 15 minute time period.
Still the lowest rate among major golf auction houses, a buyer's premium of 17.5% for all items is now in effect. All lots are free to be bid on until extended bidding has ended.
