Donna Hamilton Brown CollectionDonna Hamilton Brown, a long time member of the Golf Heritage Society, is a well-respected golf instructor out of Florida, the profession that she has dedicated her life to. The career-amateur golfer followed her pursuit of influencing the golf world in numerous ways. New York Times included her instructional book ‘Play Golf with Toby’ release as a front cover story in 1989. She was able to parlay that successful book teaching golf to children into a brand that included t-shirts and custom Ping golf clubs that she had friend Karsten Solheim himself produce after hearing her mission statement. Generous with her gift for the game of golf, she touched hundreds of children’s’ lives over the years, often teaching beside the likes of notable female professional golfers such as Patty Berg and Nancy Lopez.
Fittingly of who she is and the friends in high places that she has made is a story about her book. When asked about the illustration of her book ‘Play Golf with Toby’ she explained that Kirk Homrighouse was her second choice and that she had multiple conversations with initial choice ‘Peanuts’ illustrator Charles Schulz himself, who explained that he wanted to do it but was sick at the time of production. Along the way she amassed an eclectic collection of golf memorabilia, nicely displayed in her house that included an indoor putting green. We are honored to now share her collection with the public, the way she wants it.
