1940 PGA Championship at Hershey CC 'Thumbnail Sketches of Stars' Original Press Release - Demaret, Dudley & Guldahl Content


'Compliments of Alexander Stoddart, Hershey Estates, Hershey, Pa.' is an original press release discussing the prospects of three tournament favorites, including Masters Tournament winners Jimmy Demaret and Ralph Guldahl. This release was titled 'Thumbnail Sketches of Stars, In 23rd PGA Championship at Hershey, Pa., Aug. 26 to Sept. 1.' Byron Nelson ended up the major tournament's victor. Nelson won his first PGA Championship, defeating Sam Snead in the match play final. This letter has original notation penciled, likely from the author, on the right side of the sheet of paper on the paragraph about Ed Dudley. It is framed and presented in a way in which is does not detract from the piece itself. This piece will come with a signed letter from Historian Bob Denney of the PGA, proclaiming that this item comes from their collection.

AUCTION CLOSING RULES:


This auction will end at 9:00pm EST Sunday, July 21st with EXTENDED BIDDING to follow. All items that have received multiple bids in the auction will remain open until no items have received a bid within a 15 minute time period (at 10pm EST, the countdown clock will be adjusted to a 5 minute interval)

1. You must place your initial bids BEFORE extended bidding begins in order to bid on the item in extended bidding
2. During extended bidding, you are allowed to bid only on items you PREVIOUSLY placed a bid on.
3. All lots that are active in extended bidding will close at the same time, and those with only ONE or NO BIDS will close at 9pm EST
