1936 PGA Championship at Pinehurst CC Contestant Badge - Rod Munday Collection
This contestant badge proves to be a challenging one to obtain of the first Major Championship held at Pinehurst. The contestants badge from that event which we offer in this lot was made by Balfour, it remains in very good condition. It comes with its original pin intact and very little oxidation on the reverse. The 19th PGA Championship, then still in match play format, was won by Denny Shute. He would defend his championship in 1937, a back-to-back PGA title which would not been seen again until Tiger Woods accomplished the feat in 1999-2000. It was also the sixth of his seven total major titles. This lot presents with very clean front enamel. 1" x 1"
