1942 PGA Championship at Seaview CC Contestant Badge - Sam Snead Winner - Rod Munday Collection
In 1942 at the PGA Championship Sam Snead recorded his first major championship, with a match play victory over Jim Turnesa. Sam Snead began his service soon after winning the event. As a player in that tournament Snead would have received a very similar contestant pin to the one that is listed here. At a size of 1" 1/4 diameter, it was the same customary style of pin that was used during that time period for PGA Championships. Still intact is the original pin. The emerald green enamel badge grades in very good condition, with only minor wear on reverse.
