Designated as the "Women's Championship Number" with an original retail price of 10 cents. Illustrated paper wrappers printed on light green stock, with cover illustration print by Archie Gunn depicting male and female golfers alongside an inset photographic depiction of "The Cox Challenge Trophy." Interior contents include articles by John Ferguson, Miss Pascoe, C. B. Macdonald, John R. Gott, A. H. Doleman, Willie Park, Jr., and R. K. Risk, featuring coverage of the Women's Championship of 1897 at Essex County Club, player profiles, and period golf equipment advertisements from Wm. Park & Son, Edwin Horrax, Samuel Buckley & Co., and Theodore B. Starr. Back cover features an advertisement for Golf magazine within an ornate decorative border.
