1920 Walter Hagen Photo OPEN Bound Onboard S.S. Mauretania From Estate with Plyer Letter
This vintage photo of the golfing legend Hagen was taken in 1920 en route to Royal Cinque Ports Golf Club for his very first OPEN Championship. Held June 30-July 1st, the blue ink note "May 1920, on board S.S. Mauretania" (Possibly in Hagen's hand) on the reverse notes the May travel date for that year's competition. Text at the base of photo is in the photo itself and reads "Walter Hagen Champion of Golf of the U.S.". Sir Walter won his first US Open the previous year at Midlothian CC outside of Chicago. Condition of photo is excellent containing four sharp corner. For the first time in nearly twenty years, this photo is being offered since being acquired from the Walter Hagen Collection. Also included with this photo is the letter from Shelby Player who inherited the collection from Hagen's personal secretary and fiancé Doris Brandes after her passing. 3 3/8" x 5 5/8"

1. You must place your initial bids BEFORE extended bidding begins to bid on the item in extended bidding
2. During extended bidding, you are allowed to bid only on items you PREVIOUSLY placed a bid on.
3. All lots that are active in extended bidding will close at the same time, and those with only ONE or NO BIDS will close at 9pm EST
