1926 Walter Hagen W512 Hand Cut Rookie Strip Card
Multi-sport card sets were commonplace for some of the earliest United States golf cards to reside, case in point this Walter Hagen 'Golf Champ' rookie card. Hagen's first cardboard appearance was originally on an uncut card sheet with stars from the swimming, tennis and boxing champions from the same time period. An entry from the sub category of 'hand cut' sports cards, this colorful profile depiction of The Haig is in very good condition as shown in the accompanying lot photos. Well-received when brought to the market, the 11-time major's rookie garnered 8 bids for a total sum of $221 in our 2022 December Auction. This is a nice looking example with dark lines and preserved color.
