1927 Churchman Cigarettes Famous Golfers Series Number 34 Edward Ray
A vintage cigarette trading card from the 1927 W.A. and A.C. Churchman Famous Golfers series, number 34, featuring professional golfer Edward Ray. The front of the card displays a sepia-toned photograph of Ray in the middle of a golf swing, wearing period-appropriate attire including a hat, sweater, and knickerbockers. The reverse of the card provides a detailed biographical sketch of Ray, noting his victories in the 1912 Open Championship and the 1920 American Open Championship, as well as his role as captain of the British professional team in 1927. The header on the back is printed as FAMOUS GOLFERS SERIES OF 50 with the card number 34 just below. The manufacturer name is printed at the bottom as W.A.&A.C.CHURCHMAN followed by the issuer mark ISSUED BY THE IMPERIAL TOBACCO CO (OF GREAT BRITAIN & IRELAND), LTD. Excellent condition.
