1927 Open Championship at St. Andrews Program w/ Custom Clamshell Case - Bobby Jones Win
Defending his Open title, Bobby Jones would return to St Andrews to retain Champion Golfer of the Year honors in 1927. This lot features the exceedingly scarce 1927 Open Championship program titled St. Andrews 1927 Open Championship: A Souvenir of the Mother City of Golf. Published by The Silvertown Company of London as a promotional item for Silver King golf balls. Bobby Jones would capture his sixth major championship title.
The cover of the program features a graphic silhouette of a golfer against a yellow sun, alongside a cartoon figure representing the Silver King brand. The interior includes historical text regarding St. Andrews and the Royal and Ancient Golf Club, supported by several black-and-white photographic plates of the course, clubhouse, and local landmarks.
The booklet is presented in a modern, professionally crafted quarter-leather clamshell solander box for preservation. The case features a reddish-brown morocco leather spine with five raised bands and burgundy cloth-covered boards. The spine is embellished with gold-tooled decorative borders and lettering that identifies the event, dates, and winner, specifically noting Sixth Major and Bobby Jones.
