1935 Medinah Open badge & 1981 Spirit of Medinah Club History Book
With the 2026 presidents Cup being played at the
Medinah Country Club, we offer here two items
that celebrate the club’s history.
We have a scarce 1935 badge from the Medinah
Open held that year. This was the second
Medinah Open championship. The $3500 purse
attracted a starting field of 103 players. Proceeds
benefitted the Shriner’s Hospital for Crippled
children.
“Lighthorse” Harry Cooper won the tournament.
Dramatically, Johnny Revolta had a 12-foot putt for
birdie on 18 but missed it by two inches and he
ended up taking second. Tommy Armour,
Medinah’s new head professional tied for sixth.
Only two people had under par rounds on Course
No. 3.
The same badge (with a different number) is
pictured on page 72 in the accompanying Spirit of
Medinah 75 years of Fellowships and
Championships club history.
This is a wonderful club history written by Tom
Cronin in 2001. This 325 page book is beautifully
produced and features an oblong decorative leather
