1935 Ryder Cup Dance Promotional Flyer Ridgewood Country Club - Rare
This original promotional flyer or invitation was produced for the Ryder Cup Dance held at the Ridgewood Country Club on Saturday September 28 1935. This social event took place during the fifth biennial Ryder Cup matches which were hosted at the same venue and resulted in a victory for the United States team captained by Walter Hagen. The flyer is printed in dark blue ink on a single sheet of off white cardstock. The central graphic features a depiction of the Ryder Cup trophy surrounded by six couples in formal evening attire dancing in a circle. The text RYDER CUP DANCE is printed in a bold stylized arch below the illustration. The flyer provides event details including a performance by Joe Moss and His Orchestra who are credited as being direct from The Hotel Pierre Roof and having performed at the White House the Waldorf Astoria and on the Lucky Strike Radio Hour. The reverse side of the flyer is blank. Seldom seen Depression Era paper item sourced from an early Ryder Cup match combine to make this an intriguing addition to your collection. 6" x 9 1/4"
