1941 PGA Championship at Cherry Hills Official Program - Vic Ghezzi Winner
Vic Ghezzi was able to hold off reigning champ and heavyweight Byron Nelson in the final round of the 1941 PGA Championship. Cherry Hills CC in Denver saw an intriguing final match, one that lasted 38 holes. Byron Nelson's path to the finals included beating legends Ralph Guldahl, Ben Hogan and Gene Sarazen in successive days. The 1941 PGA Championship was the final "full field" playing of the tournament prior to World War II. The field was cut in half to 32 competitors the following year. The host club, Cherry Hills Country Club in Colorado, has watched five major tournaments play out. 19 years after this tournament the patrons of Cherry Hills saw Arnold Palmer toss his visor in the air on the final green after winning his first US Open title. This program is in excellent condition, with only slight wear on the cover in the form of creases in the bottom corners as seen in the pictures.
