1945 Arnold Palmer High School Yearbook with Vintage Pencil Autograph
In 1945 the sports scene at Latrobe High School in Latrobe, Pennsylvania was a disappointing one with losing seasons in both marque sports of basketball and football. As noted in the class yearbook all they could boast about was the success of the golf team. For team member Arnold Palmer this was an early championship in what would be a lifetime of championships on the golf courses across the world. The '45 Latrobe yearbook pictures an oh so young Arnie with his fellow golf team members. This copy of the school yearbook has been in the hands of a longtime Pittsburgh area golf, and in particular Arnold Palmer collector giving us confidence that indeed this scripting is one of the first of what turned into tens of thousands maybe even a million times Arnold would sign his name for his adoring fans. This signature is so early that even the vast resources of James Spence Authentication(JSA) had no known examples to compare it to for analysis.
