1946 US Amateur Championship at Baltusrol GC Official Program with Pairing Sheets
It had been 5 years since the last US Amateur was contested, as World War II took hold of the world. Ted Bishop used his deadly accuracy with his 3 wood to claim the 1946 US Amateur at Baltusrol. Bishop was down 2 strokes in the finals to Smiley Quick but tied it in the second round to force a tiebreaker hole. Quick inexplicably missed a 2 1/2 foot putt to give Bishop the Amateur Championship. Cary Middlecoff and Arthur Wall, Jr. were among the heavyweights in the field that week. Presented here is the 1946 US Amateur Championship at Baltusrol GC Official Program with Pairing Sheets. The 27th page of the Baltusrol program has a photo and message from the great Bobby Jones, with a facsimile full-name signature below. Monday and Tuesday and Thursday are captured on the two pairing sheets. This instance marks only the second time that we have had this red and green program and the first time in five years. All items that have received multiple bids in the auction will remain open until no items have received a bid within a 15 minute time period (at 10pm EST, the countdown clock will be adjusted to a 5 minute interval). 1. You must place your initial bids BEFORE extended bidding begins to bid on the item in extended bidding
2. During extended bidding, you are allowed to bid only on items you PREVIOUSLY placed a bid on.
3. All lots that are active in extended bidding will close at the same time, and those with only ONE or NO BIDS will close at 9pm EST
**If extended bidding goes pass midnight ET, The Golf Auction reserves the right to close the auction at any time. We recommend bidders place their maximum bids prior to that time. Thank you**
